BLACK ULTRAVIOLET (2021)

After an alien-obsessed astronaut is recruited for a mission in an uncharted sector of space, he discovers that his sense of time is distorting, creating years-long time differences with mission control on earth as his team is stalked by a mysterious aircraft seemingly retreating from where they are headed.
Winner of the Outstanding Student Film Award at the 2023 Zimbabwe Annual Film & Television Awards.
Selected as a special mention from out of 10 nominees for the Baobab Short Film Award at London's premier film festival for African cinema: Film Africa.
Jurors' Statement: "We would on this occasion like to give a special mention to one film for its originality, creativity and artistic merit. It stood out for us in terms of ambition and we feel that this director is one to watch. We are very excited to see such work that pushes the envelope come out of the continent. Beyond the visual, experimental language of the film melded so well with the cinematic; the use of poetry and metaphors that speak to universal themes such as personal and human evolution, identity and love, we were enthralled and are thus spotlighting Black Ultraviolet by Simba Mahachi as our choice to receive a Special Mention as part of the 2022 Baobab Award Shorts."

When a desperate waitress plots to loot her franchise diner in order to pay for her dying mother's medical care, she soon discovers that two armed criminals have also planned to rob the same joint, on the same day, at the same time, and realizes she shares a history with them both.
My film school graduation project which won the institution's awards for Best Undergraduate Film, the Critics' Award for Best Undergraduate Film, Best Screenplay, Best Producer, and Best Performance in a Lead Role in addition to being selected as one of three films from the campus to travel to global film festivals.

When a bestselling author who exploits her culture for fame gets access to an early version of the app, she tests it to check how her new book could end, but ends up discovering more about her heritage than she ever could have anticipated.
